We are never anywhere without our smartphones. Even when we drop them in the toilet, the urge to grab for them is still there. Sometimes they’re simply a distraction from the world around us, and other times they can capture something truly inspirational to bring us back to those moments time and time again. The iPhone Photography Awards™ (IPPAWARDS), which receives thousands of entries from photographers worldwide–all of which are taken with an iPhone–recently announced the winners of their 7th Annual Contest.
IPPAWARDS has been celebrating the creativity of the iPhone user since the first iPhone ever began inspiring, exciting, and engaging users worldwide. The iPhone Photography Awards are the first and the longest running iPhone photography competition – selecting the best shots among thousands of images submitted by iPhone photographers from 70+ countries around the world. They recently announced the winners of the 7th Annual Contest in the Photographers of the Year and additional categories such as: Animals, Architecture, Children, Flowers, Food, Landscape, Lifestyle, Nature, News/Events, Others, People, Seasons, Still Life, Sunset, Travel and Trees.
All images must be taken with an iPhone, iPod or iPad and cannot be altered in Photoshop or any other desktop post processing program, however iPhone and iPad apps are allowed to be used. This year, the winning entries came from 54 photographers from 17 countries with the top spot going to an incredible wintertime shot of an icy landscape taken byJulio Lucas from Bradenton, Florida.
Winners are selected by the jury members in several steps and The Photographer of the Year prize awarded. The three winners in the Photographer of the Year will receive an iPad Air (16GB, Wi-Fi). The first place winner in each category will be awarded a Gold Bar from the most recognizable private gold mint in the world.
